AAR’s Nordisk to Provide Fuel-Saving Unit Load Devices to China Southern Airlines

Lightweight ULDs to reduce emissions while providing safe, reliable cargo transport

HONG KONG — AAR’s Nordisk Aviation Products announces it has received orders for more than 1,100 lightweight air cargo containers and pallets from China Southern Airlines. Nordisk’s Unit Load Devices (ULDs), among the lightest-weight in the industry, will provide the airline fuel savings of more than 1,100 tons of fuel a year, reducing carbon emissions by more than 3,500 tons. The containers and pallets will be manufactured at Nordisk’s facility in Kunshan, China, for shorter delivery lead times to the customer.

“We are pleased to provide China Southern Airlines with fuel-efficient, lightweight containers and pallets that, in addition to protecting the environment, help to enhance the safe and reliable transport of passenger cargo,” said Boon Yang Sim, Nordisk's Vice President of Sales and Business Development, Asia Pacific and People’s Republic of China.

Nordisk is the leading industry supplier of air cargo containers and pallets, having delivered more than 680,000 units to the global markets over the past 40 years.

AAR (NYSE: AIR), with its Telair and Nordisk subsidiaries, offers a full line of main deck and lower deck cargo systems and a variety of baggage handling and freight solutions that enable increased payload and fuel savings.
