AAR’s CEO David P. Storch to speak at UIUC
Engineering Society Pi Tau Sigma extends invitation
WOOD DALE, Illinois – David P. Storch, Chairman and CEO of global aerospace leader AAR Corp., will talk to mechanical engineering students about STEM careers and the importance of math and science achievement on Thursday at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
Storch was invited to the campus by a student he met in 2011 at a Marine scholarship dinner who belongs to the Pi Tau Sigma Honor Society. By no accident, the STEM-focused event takes place on National Pi Day, one that extols the importance of math and science education.
“Pi Tau Sigma members are known for high achievement and career success, and no doubt have bright futures ahead of them,” said Storch, who advocates nationally for enhanced STEM programs to build the skilled, technical labor force. “But today’s highly skilled, technical workforce needs more talent like them – a lot more. It’s important that we take every opportunity to promote these careers, so I thank Pi Tau Sigma for including me in this important national dialogue.”
AAR partners with colleges and universities, industry associations, public schools and nonprofit intermediaries to raise awareness about careers in aerospace. Storch joins executives from companies such as Caterpillar, ITW, and Navistar who also have been invited to speak at UIUC or Illinois by the Pi Tau Sigma Honor Society.
The event will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. in the school’s Mechanical Engineering Building, 1206 W. Green St., Room 153, in Urbana. Storch will deliver a 45-minute speech, followed by a 15-minute Q&A session.
