AAR Completes Aircraft Cabin Modifications for Bhutan National Carrier

3 Airbus A319-100s are overhauled and delivered within 8 weeks

SINGAPORE – Global aerospace leader AAR (NYSE: AIR) announces it has successfully completed a cabin modification project in a tight timeframe on three Airbus A319-100s flown by Drukair, the national carrier of the Royal Government of Bhutan.

Delivering an integrated, turnkey solution, AAR replaced the business and economy class seats, installed additional passenger seating in economy class and received design approvals from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), Europe’s airworthiness authority. AAR’s services included design, engineering, certification and supply of seats and cabin parts, as well as maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) touch labor for the aircraft reconfiguration. AAR was able to meet Drukair’s tight schedule, completing the modification of the three aircraft in eight weeks.

“May I take this opportunity to thank everyone for their generous contribution and support in ensuring the successful completion of this project,” said Thrimchong Wangdi, General Manager of Drukair. “We acknowledge that the project had a tight deadline and without the commitment and dedication of all involved, the completion would not have been possible.”

Michael Leung, Director, AAR Engineering Services – Asia, commended AAR Engineering Services Singapore for ensuring quality in a fast turnaround.

“Our team put a lot into developing the engineering and managing the supply chain, including our seat shop and MRO partner. They once again proved capable of completing high-intensity programs on time, meeting customer expectations,” Leung said. “We provide our customers in Asia and elsewhere a one-stop shop for all their aircraft modification needs to help them meet challenges in a dynamic market environment.”

Engineering Services is just one resource in AAR's 1MRO (SM) network of solutions for commercial airlines worldwide. AAR offers a comprehensive range of products and services extending to heavy maintenance, landing gear and component repair services, as well as parts supply and support. AAR has become the No. 1 provider of MRO services in North America and one of the top 3 in the world, according to industry rankings.

AAR Engineering Services provides a wide range of high-quality, cost-effective technical services, specializing in interior reconfigurations, structural and systems modifications, and avionics upgrades requiring FAA or foreign regulatory approvals.
