AAR Receives FAA, CAAC Approval for 757-200 Interior Modifications
Innovative design services strengthens presence in Asia Pacific
SINGAPORE – AAR (NYSE: AIR) has received design approvals from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), China’s airworthiness authority, to perform custom interior modifications for Boeing 757-200 aircraft operated by Xiamen Airlines.
AAR’s design will modify the 757-200 aircraft into a three-class configuration by installing VIP first-class sections with lie-flat seats in the forward cabins, as well as business class seats. The cabin also will be modified to accommodate three classes.
“Once again, AAR has achieved FAA and CAAC approval on time and on budget through the efforts of our teams in Singapore and North America,” said Michael Leung, Director, AAR Engineering Services, Asia. “Accomplishing another successful program with Xiamen Airlines helps us to solidify our relationship with Xiamen and build our customer service base throughout Asia.”
The design was developed by AAR Engineering Services, where personnel managed the processes to obtain the FAA’s Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) and the CAAC’s Validation of Supplemental Type Certificate (VSTC) approvals. In addition, AAR provided Xiamen Airlines with integration engineering services and custom modification kits produced at AAR Aircraft Services in Indianapolis, Indiana, U.S.A. With support from AAR Engineers Services personnel, Xiamen Airlines completed interior modifications on two of its 757-200s at its maintenance facility at Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport.
“We want our customers and potential customers to know that AAR is truly invested in the region,” said Robert Laird, Vice President, Business Development, Asia Pacific. “AAR has expanded its capabilities to include every aspect of aircraft support and we look forward to providing more customers in the region with our broad range of maintenance, supply chain, manufacturing and engineering services.”
AAR Engineering Services provides a wide range of high-quality, cost-effective technical services, specializing in interior reconfigurations, structural and systems modifications, and avionics upgrades requiring FAA or other regulatory agency approvals
